Pavlos participated in his first sailing race at the age of 9, won his first national junior championship at 13 and entered the world class laser division at only 15. Since then distinctions tend to follow him wherever he goes: silver medal at the London Olympic Games and world champion in the 2017 World Championship in Gagamori, Japan. He feels blessed for being born in Cyprus, an island that allowed him to fulfill his dreams and aspirations. To Pavlos Kontides the seas of Cyprus are a second home, and the optimal climate of the island offered him an ideal training marine field that secured success in his athletic endeavours.
His next professional target and big dream is none other than the winners’ podium at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Pavlos always strives to overcome any obstacle and dedicate himself 100% towards achieving his goals, knowing that at any given time he tried his best...Every time he represents Cyprus in an international sailing event, every time he sets foot on the podium, every time the cypriot flag waves in front of his eyes, Pavlos Kontides fills with honnor and pride.

“Some of my favorite spots can be found around my hometown, Limassol. These are the area of Molos and the Old Port, well worth a visit when the sun sets, taking a stroll on the boardwalk and the historic area of Amathous. Believe me, this will be a dreamlike walk, like you’ve never had before”.
