Larnaka's Storytelling Statues

Cyprus unlocked

It was in early September that the innovative, interactive application, Larnaka Storytelling Statues, gave... voices to five of Larnaka’s most prominent statues – Zeno of Kition, Michael Kashalos, General Kimon, Dr Appolonios of Kition, and the Winged Lion of Venice. A sign was placed on each of the aforementioned statues featuring a Quick Response Code (QR Code). The visitor, by scanning each code with his/her mobile device, receives a “call” from each statue, which narrates its own story, and how it is linked to the city of Larnaka.

In the near future, visitors will be able to receive information from the statues of Ayios Lazarus church, the Pierides Museum, the Medieval Castle, and the Armenian Genocide Memorial, since these too will acquire their own voice and the opportunity to tell their great stories. Moreover, in cooperation with Hermes Airports, a sculpture in Larnaka International Airport will also have its own story to tell.
